We are all aware of the significant global challenges presented by COVID-19. FIP has a duty of care to its members, volunteers and congress participants, and is in regular contact with the World Health Organization, globally and regionally. Our policy is to follow its advice, together with guidance from national states and governmental offices. We are also in regular contact with member organisations with whom we are collaborating on planned events.
Given the current situation with the COVID-19, FIP and its co-host, the General Pharmaceutical Council of Spain, have taken the decision to reschedule FIP’s 80th World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Spain’s 22nd National Pharmaceutical Congress. Postponing our annual congresses has been a difficult decision for our associations but has been led by responsibility, trust and solidarity: your safety and the well-being of your communities are our priority.
The new dates for the 80th World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the 22nd National Pharmaceutical Congress will be 12 – 16 September 2021, and 14-16 September 2021, respectively.
We will continue to work with all our partners to ensure a successful and vibrant congress.
We are currently working out all the logistics, but we would like to give you a summary of the most important steps to be taken from here.
Registrations already paid for will be transferred to the 2021 congress. We understand that positions and delegations could change, so we will not be charging name change fees for those already registered and paid should the originally registered participants be unable to attend in 2021.
For those registrants who wish to cancel their registration, a full refund will be made, minus an administrative fee of 10%, in order to help FIP, which is a non-profit organisation, to survive the huge financial setback of rescheduling this congress.

Participants who have already made their hotel reservations through our housing agent BCO Congresos will be contacted directly by them about the possibility to transfer reservations to 2021.
The abstract review process will be finalised as scheduled, and we are exploring different options for online publication and/or virtual poster presentations to ensure that your work is shared in a timely fashion.
All authors will be informed accordingly, as soon as possible.

Programme / Invited chairs and speakers
The programme for the FIP 2020 congress in Seville will, in principle, remain in place for the 2021 congress. The sessions programme including invited chairs and speakers will largely stay the same, but the FIP Congress Programme Committee will continue to revise and develop the programme in the coming period to maintain its relevance. Everyone involved in the congress sessions will be kept informed of developments. Invited chairs and speakers’ registrations will be transferred to the 2021 congress.
FIP Council Meeting
Please note that the FIP Council Meeting and other satellite events will take place virtually. We will inform participants about this in due course.
